Is T.I. Being A Bad Mentor When It Comes To Iggy Azalea?

What’s going on with T.I. and Iggy Azalea? It appears as though the relationship the Australian rapper has developed with the Grand Hustle boss – which some rappers would kill for – is on the verge of imploding.
T.I. recently made some questionable comments about his business with Iggy, implying he had severed ties with her since they have not worked together in quite some time. Then T.I. backtracked on those statements when Iggy caught wind of them, at the same time as the rest of the Internet.

What’s going on with T.I. and what’s this say about his leadership skills? Ryan Schocket of The Daily Tar Heel noted that T.I. has already admitted to being a mentor to the Australian rapper. He continues to catch checks for hits like “Fancy” “Black Widow” and a bunch of others.

“A mentor is supposed to be a confidant, a friend and, ultimately, someone you can turn to when your life starts — and continues — to suck. T.I. was fine being her mentor, as she acquired awards, number-one singles and millions of dollars.”

Is T.I. just fed up with Iggy altogether though? In his defense, he did stick by Iggy through and number of controversial moments in the Australian rapper’s career. She infamously referred to herself as a “runaway slave master” on the 2011 song. And that wasn’t enough to break her bond with T.I.
Neither was a series of homophobic tweets she sent out from 2010 to 2013, just before her fame and during the height of it. Don’t forget the hate she gets for being an Australian white girl who raps with a fake southern American accent. Add on the battles on social media with Q-Tip, Azealia Banks, Britney Spears, Eminem and even Papa John’s pizza and it becomes a little clearer as to why T.I. might be fed up.
But for now, Iggy is still signed to the Grand Hustle label, so it looks like T.I. is going to give her another try. T.I. has since clarified his earlier comments and let it be known that Iggy is working on a new album for Grand Hustle.
The Daily Tar Heel offered up some additional advice to T.I.

“You chose to take her under your wing, so now you need to get the fuck over yourself and help dig Iggy out of the hole she dug for herself. Your name is T.I., and I know you’re not a calculator, but you need to figure something out before Iggy ties bricks around your ankles and brings you down into the river of career failure with her.”

Despite anyone’s opinion, the comments T.I. made publicly will certainly widen a growing rift between the student and the master.
