It’s been a great year for Kendrick Lamar, who’s up for 11 Grammys this year, thanks to his album To Pimp A Butterfly.
The critically acclaimed release took Kendrick all the way up to the White House, where President Obama said that he was his favorite rapper. In the latest issue of Billboard, which features Kendrick on the cover, he described what meeting the most powerful man in the world is like.
“The way people look at me these days — that’s the same way I looked at President Obama before I met him. We tend to forget that people who’ve attained a certain position are human.” – Kendrick Lamar to Billboard.
The rapper admitted he was starstruck, until he actually met President Obama who was genuinely excited to meet the Compton bred artist.
“When [the president] said to my face what his favorite record was — I understood that, no matter how high-ranking you get in this world, you’re human.”
