The SpotiFive: Five Hip-Hop Songs – Friday June 8

Mozzy, Kae One – “Had To”

Mozzy is one of California’s prolific new rappers. The Sacramento, California native has teamed up with Kae One to drop the 8-track album Run It Up Activities. This has a few standout singles, including Big “Facts” & “Goon Body.” But the gem of the release is “Had To,” which kicks off Run It Up Activities.

Kamiyah & Schoolboy Q – “Addicted to Ballin”

Bay Area rapper Kamiyah is swinging for the fences on this new track. The song, “Addicted to Ballin,” features an appearance by TDE rapper, Schoolboy Q. This song is definitely for the radio, especially with this DJ Mustard produced beat.

Future & Lil Wayne – “Drive Itself”

Future is overseeing the soundtrack to the new “Superfly” remake. Unfortunately, this hyped up project comes nowhere close to the groundbreaking material Curtis Mayfield released for the 1972 soundtrack to the original film. This album showcases the usual Future drug-fueled, autotune raps. The “Superfly” soundtrack has a few bangers, but most of these songs are forgettable. The stand out track on this release “Drive Itself” featuring Lil Wayne.

Kids See Ghosts – “Fire”

Kid Cudi has released his highly-anticipated collaborative effort with Kanye West known as Kids See Ghosts. This is a pretty solid effort from Cudi and Kanye, with all of the production coming from Yeezus himself. Cudi could have the biggest radio single of his career with the single “Fire.”

Jorja Smith – “Lifeboats”
Jorja Smith just dropped her debut album Lost & Found. The UK native has been garnering attention the past few months, thanks to an international tour and the success of her single “Blue Lights.” Jorja’s new album Lost & Found is filled with great R&B, but the standout song is titled “Lifeboats” and features the songstress dropping a dope verse.
