This is N.W.A.’s moment. The influential rap group from Los Angeles has been making the rounds promoting their critically acclaimed biopic “Straight Outta Compton.”

Thanks to a media blitz for “Straight Outta Compton,” Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella are making headlines again like it was 1989.

The rappers and cast members Jason Mitchell (Eazy), Corey Hawkins (Dre), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Cube), Aldis Hodge (Ren) and Neil Brown Jr. (Yella) have been given the media unprecedented access.

Dr. Dre finally released a new album Compton, just in time for the movie’s release.

And thanks to a cool meme generator, everyone’s IG has been flooded with those “Straight Outta” where ever pictures. But there is another player in the film we felt needed some credit.

This ultra-cool, highly sought after star cannot shuffle down the red carpet.

The cultural icon cannot even speak, lol.

That’s because it’s a white Ferrari Testarossa. The car became a cultural icon after significant exposure in the 1980s thanks to being showcased in the hit television series “Miami Vice.”

In the 1980’s, millions of viewers tuned in weekly to watch the character James “Sonny” Crockett (played by Don Johnson) whip around town in his white Ferrari Testarossa. His partner, Rico Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) pushed a 1964 Cadillac Coupe Deville Convertible.

Super producer Dr. Dre was clearly impressed by Crockett’s luxurious whip of choice during “Miami Vice’s” third season. The classic car also makes an appearance in the hit movie “Straight Outta Compton.”

When Dr. Dre began cashing bigger checks with Death Row Records in the early 1990’s, one of his first major purchases was a 1987 White Ferrari Testarossa. In order to preserve the historical correctness of the movie “Straight Outta Compton,” producers of the film rented a genuine white Ferrari Testarossa from Black Horse Motor Sports in Los Angeles.

The white Ferrari Testarossa played a crucial role and Dr. Dre’s life.

It was Dre’s car of choice to drive during a high-speed chase from the cops through Beverly Hills, which led to his arrest for drunken driving in 1994. The chase scene is reenacted in the film by actor Corey Hawkins, who plays Dr. Dre in the group’s biopic.

“A broker who is very well versed in the picture car business contacted us to use the Ferrari for the Universal Studios movie,” Carl Steuer, owner of Blackhorse Motor Sports, explained to CollegeHipHop.com in a statement.

“We generally get an idea of how a car will be used during filming, but it’s up to the producers to decide how little or much they use the vehicle. I was surprised and excited to see our Testarossa in a chase scene with Dre’s character driving the car,” Steuer said.

Although the movie has caught some static from Los Angeles police, “Straight Outta Compton” is on its way to topping the box office this week with a $59 million dollar opening weekend.

The unsung the star of the film’s stock is rising as well.

Steuer once owned the VW Bug from Cheech and Chong’s “Up in Smoke,” which he bought at an auction. Steuer sold that car for around for around $70,000.

Now he believes the white Ferrari Testarossa featured in “Straight Outta Compton” holds more value and could be sold for over $300,000.

“Ferrari’s continue to set world record prices, and the fact we have the original white Testarossa that was driven by Dre’s character in the movie will only add to the value of the car,” Steuer predicted. “Collectors love cars that were in movies.”

To see the white Ferrari Testarossa visit Black Horse Motor Sports at 1701 S. La Cienega Blvd in Los Angeles.
