Fraternities Are Working On Raping Their Way To A Ban On College Campuses

Fraternities and sororities could face extinction if the guys do not get their act together, ASAP.

A really shocking new study was just released by the Association of American Universities detailing the severity of sexual assaults on campuses around the United States.
Things have gotten so crazy, that 1 in four college-aged women will be sexually assaulted before they graduate. And those are just the numbers for the women who are willing to talk.
Almost 95% of the time, the woman is too scared, traumatized or embarrassed to come forward and confront her attacker. A total of 139 universities are under investigation for failing to report sexual assaults on campus in addition to not even being compliant with sexual assault laws.

Lady Gaga’s new song “Til it Happens to You” is about rape. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the song will be donated to organizations helping survivors of sexual assault.

Look at the data and its obvious – being a young woman on a college campus becomes a dangerous proposition.
One student, Aram Ghoogasian, was so alarmed by the culture on the campus of UCLA, that he wrote an article in the Daily Bruin, calling for the ban of gender-specific fraternities and sororities.
Pressure is being applied to the Sexual Harassment Prevention Office to “ban single-sex organizations from campus if its commitment to fighting sex assault on all fronts is to be taken seriously.”
So what exactly is the reason that fraternity Bros are three times more likely to commit rape? Is forcibly taking it from a vulnerable woman worth risking the future of Greek life on campus?
Getting to the root of these problems are not as simple as taking crash courses on sexual assault. Who’s to blame for the epidemic? The individuals? Their parents? Their schooling? Society?
A rebuttal also in the Daily Bruin pointed out that this reprehensible behavior starts wayyyyy before the students arrive at college.
“Because of these alarming statistics, many misinterpret the root of the sexual assault problem. In reality, the issue starts before college and is not created by the Greek system. The circumstances there could still be improved by creating equal regulation and restrictions for both types of houses.”
That article’s author Casey Kovarik of Chi Omega even relayed a story about a tournament he and his classmates created when they were seniors in high school.
“The senior boys created a competition they dubbed ‘May Madness’ which set up a bracket of 64 girls of all grades, which the boys voted on and publicly discussed online with remarks that ranged from demeaning to harassment.”
Damn!!
Kovarik argued that rape culture in Greek life is also fostered by the rules set forth by the Panhellenic Council and the Interfraternity Council. The organizations’ rules are built-in promote sexism and gender inequality between fraternities and sororities before any students even join.
No matter what the reason, when it comes down to it, first each must be held accountable for his actions. But we must also study the reasons why so many young men are committing these heinous crimes.
Lets also make sure we do not stereotype fraternities and sororities members as being like characters from the movies “Old School” or “Animal House.”
