Rapper G Herbo hails from one of the nation’s most dangerous cities – “Terror Town.”
That’s the name locals have affectionately dubbed the Eastside of Chicago, a city that saw over 800 murders last year.
This is the environment where G Herbo grew up in, as a student at Hyde Park Academy.
G recently returned to his old stomping grounds, to talk to students about avoiding pitfalls while growing up in Terror Town.
The exchange with students was chronicled in Mass Appeal’s documentary “City Of Sorrow.”
“Before I get out of here, I just wanted to tell y’all that no matter what you do in life, the main three things to remember is to keep faith in yourself, stay focused and keep working hard.” – G Herbo
“Ain’t nothing easy. Everything in life is hard, there will be ups and downs, you’re gonna lose, you’re gonna fail. But you only fail if you give up.”
Let’s hope 2018 is another good year for G Herbo.
His debut album Humble Beast was released to critical acclaim at the end of last year, and he’s expecting a newborn child with his girlfriend Ariana Fletcher.
