New Digital License Plates Will Be Cool But Will The Government Be Watching Us?

A new automotive trend could be bubbling up, thanks to some new legislation that passed in California.
Drivers in Sacramento, California are testing the first digital license plates in the state of California.
The new digital plates allow drivers to register their cars digitally, and ditch the annoying inspection sticker on traditional license plates.
While the State has yet to decide if they will allow it, the digital license plates are capable of displaying customize messages.

A potential drawback is a security feature embedded in the license plates.
If a vehicle is or plate is stolen, the digital plates can send messages to cops letting them know where the plates or car are located.
They aren’t going to be cheap anyway. According to reports, the plates will start at $699.
